Going Online

The best way to learn to use the internet is, predictably, to actually go online where you can find all manner of introductions, guides and courses. I recommend that at this point you go online to access the following materials, rather than using the hard copy version. If you're new to the WEB you will need to do the following.

  1. Find a computer that is connected to the internet (either a machine in one of the computer clusters, a library machine or a personal PC which has established a link to the internet via a dial-up phone line.)
  2. Launch the computer's browser software (look for Netscape Navigator, Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer)
  3. In the place for internet Addresses type in the following - www.grammatics.com/ResearchTopics/ and hit return (make sure you type the address exactly as given)
  4. There you will see a table of contents. Click on Unit 1: Linguistics Online to go to the materials for this unit.
